One of the Pantheons of Oerth

CHARACTER: The Oeridians are a tan- and olive-skinned people whose history is shaped by migration and conquest. They value martial strength and strong community order. Their distinctive pantheon reflects these traits, featuring not just one but three prominent war gods—chivalrous Heironeous the Valorous Knight, the Herald of Hell Hextor, and the fallen power Stratis. They are all children of Stern Alia, goddess of motherhood, law, and culture.

Other popular deities of the region include Procan the Storm Lord, Pholtus of the Blinding Light, Pelor the Sun Father—although Oeridians call him Sol. The Velaeri are four agricultural gods of the winds and seasons, and there are a plethora of other powers important to everyday life such as Fharlanghn the Dweller on the Horizon, Zilchus the Money Counter, and Delleb the Scribe. Oeridian worship is certainly eclectic, but their faith emphasises the concepts of honour, tradition, and the balance of law and war.

Culturewatch: To help cutters unfamiliar with Greyhawk lore picture these powers, you can do a rough mental translation of these folk to real-world Mediterranean and Norman societies, with a structured, militaristic worldview.
