Ferrix

The Weretiger Lord. N lesser power of play, curiosity, hunting, weretigers [She/Her]

Pantheons: Morphic

Symbols: Green cat’s eyes

Realms: Beastlands / Brux / Wanders & Pangaea / Wanders

Ferrix [FAIR-riks] is the patron of weretigers, curiosity, and the hunt. She’s the lithe younger sister to Father Bear Balador, and his foil in almost every sense: where he broods with ponderous wisdom, she darts ahead in a blur of amber fur and insatiable questions. Her followers call her Mother Tigress, but that’s more out of respect than acknowledgement—her nature is too wild to be called ‘motherly’. Not one to tie herself down to any one place, Ferrix’s realm is a wild mile-wide loop that trails her wherever she prowls, forming a surreal ever-shifting corridor of jungle and savannah wherever she goes in the Beastlands or Pangaea. It seems like no gate can hold her back (except for the Lady of Pain’s wards protecting Sigil, obviously), and no dark is too obscure for her to illuminate—her instinct drives her to chase secrets like they’re prey.

Her followers are a wide-ranging bunch, more likely to be off exploring the planes than hanging around their patron, but her mobile realm the Jungle of Ferrix usually contains a small village of animal-skin tents pitched by a loyal handful of Ferix’s petitioners and priests who follow her whatever the weather or danger. The tent burg doesn’t have a name, and doesn’t need one. Any cutter visiting the realm will find they’re able to speak with animals, and any lycanthropes here are able to fully control their forms, no matter what the cruel moon might try to dictate.

Ferrix appears as a tall woman with striped amber hair, green feline eyes that glow with mischievous curiosity, and retractable fingernails the colour of polished obsidian. Her alternate form is the perfect tiger—sleek, sinewy, and silent as moonlight on rippling grass. On rare occasions, she splits the difference, adopting a humanoid form with a tiger’s head and the paws of a great cat, and that’s a sign she’s dismissing convention and embracing the chaos to follow some new tantalising lead.

Philosophy and Portfolio

Ferrix teaches that knowledge is a kind of living quarry: You must stalk it, pounce on clues without hesitation, and savour every new truth. She embodies not just the thrill of the hunt, but also the play that sharpens the mind—seizing new ideas, wrestling them into shape, and then letting them loose again into the wild. Her portfolio thus spans hunting, curiosity, trickster play, and the collection of strange lore. Her worshippers—weretigresses and weretigers alike, but also the occasional rakshasa—offer her hunting trophies and prayers with their newfound insights, believing that each new gem of understanding helps to drive back the creeping boredom of the civilised mind.

EDICTS: Engage your curiosity and always seek new experiences. Explore the unexplored, hunt the unhinged, and embrace the unknown. Hunt and forage for your own food when you are in the wilderness.

ANATHEMA: Accept someone’s word without seeing evidence. Refuse the opportunity for game that’s been offered in good faith. Prevent another cutter from seeking out new experiences.
