Prydanu Eladrin

Also known as: Freedom Azata

Who Fight for Freedom for All

CG; CR 16

Alternate form: A rainshower

DESCRIPTION: The prydanu are magnificent celestial eladrin who assume striking humanoid forms, standing eight feet tall and weighing approximately 400 pounds. These radiant creatures are adorned with iridescent scales that shimmer across their glistening skin and graceful, translucent fin-like wings which provide exceptional aerial and aquatic agility. Their piercing silver eyes are framed by feathery lashes that, of course, always match their metallic-coloured nails and lips. Their hair is coloured with many shades of green, blue, silver and white and is lavishly decorated with jewels, flowers, shells, or other trinkets to remind them of past adventures.

HABITAT: Prydanu live throughout Arborea but are most at home near lakes and especially the watery layer of Aquallor, where they fly and swim alongside their aerial cousins, the shiradi. Their sleek musculature and agility place them on par with naturally aquatic creatures, and athletic prowess is something in which they take great pride.

PHILOSOPHY/SOCIETY: Prydanus arise from the souls of liberators and champions—defenders of natural justice. They embody the eladrin principle that true goodness flourishes best without coercion or rigid rules to bind its hands. They’ll fiercely combat tyranny by unmasking deception, and seek to releasing victims from bondage, wherever they find them. Their primary motivator is liberation—particularly helping distressed individuals escape slavery, unfair imprisonment, or subjugation of any form. Unlike more law-abiding celestials, prydanus prioritize individual agency over collective harmony, though their lack of restraint can sometimes lead to short-sighted plans with unintended consequences

AESTETICA: The prydanu’s aestetica revolves around aquatic beauty and liberation symbolism. They are sentimental creatures who collect small tokens from those they’ve helped, incorporating these mementos into jewellery worn as bracelets, necklaces, or woven into their colourful hair. They love artwork depicting seascapes and collections of feathers and shells. They are also great singers,

COMBAT: Prydanus possess formidable abilities centreed on liberation, and are masters of underwater combat. They are able to negate illusions, reverse polymorph transoformations and curses, grant the ability to breathe water, break enchantments and remove paralysis. Chant goes they can also cause magical rain to fall around themselves, which washes away mind-affecting influences.

WEAKNESSES: Their vanity can make them susceptible to flattery, and their impulsive nature can lead to hasty, unplanned interventions. Prydanu tend to become emotionally attached to those they save, struggling with farewells, and often they’ll leave companions sleeping to avoid difficult partings.
