Furusumu, the Sun’s Fury

Wurusemu. N intermediate power of the sun’s zenith (She/Her)

Pantheon: One Thousand Gods

Symbol: a jaguar’s paw covering the sun

Realm: Fire / Prismatic Frontier / Throne of Seven Radiances

Known Proxies: Zalag (radiance quasi-elemental proxy [they/them] / N)

Furusemu is the power of the sun’s zenith; the solar disc at its hottest and most furious. Under her light, all darkness is banished and all truths are seen—at least that’s what her followers believe. She is also responsible for channeling her solar fury into the defence of the Throne of Seven Radiances, the shared realm of all the solar powers of the pantheon of One Thousand Gods.

She appears as a slender and fierce leopard-headed woman, wearing flowing scarves and a dress woven from threads of solar fire that shimmer between golden and white-hot light. Her head is surrounded by a blazing gloriole of sunrays, and when she moves, light itself seems to bend and distort around her. Her fur shimmers like molten bronze, and her eyes are twin blazing citrines which dazzle and see through falsehood. She carries a sceptre that radiates beams of light that dispel all darkness and illusion. Chant goes when that light shines upon you, all of your secrets are immediately exposed to Furusemu.

At the zenith, none may hide from my gaze.

Furusemu dwells on the sixth layer of the ziggurat, in the heart of the Sunstorm, a cloud of swirling plasma and solar flares under her control. As the keeper of the celestial tempest, she is responsible for defending the Crowning Glory tier of the realm, and the goddess Arinna, the Queen of the Sun. This defence has yet to be breached by elemental invaders.

Another responsibility of Furusemu is that of Solar Executioner. It’s a rarely-required duty, but should Istanu issue a death penalty against one of the One Thousand Gods, it is Furusemu who takes on the solemn duty of carrying this out. Perhaps due to this, the goddess is kept at arm’s length by other powers of the pantheon, for she is certainly one of the more feared of the deities who has not been banished from the fold.
