Trawling Citadel
Realm of Rissinis
Location: Elemental Plane of Water / Core Water (wandering)
From the outside, the realm of Rissinis appears like a chaotic mess of tangled nets, but in truth it is a surprisingly clever floating burg. Its builders took advantage of the Bottomless Deep‘s lack of gravity, fashioning the Citadel as a sphere of interconnected buildings. Its outside layer is inhabited by Rissinis’ water-dwelling followers and petitioners like gillfolk and tritons. They swim around in tightly packed, but spacious buildings, keeping watch, greeting visitors and honing their fishing skills. Cutters of the Trawling Citadel weave amazing nets from many different materials, and they often leave their nets tied to their homes, freely floating about in the currents—partly as an advertisement, and partly in hopes of catching dinner and partly to entangle clumsy intruders.
Multiple portholes and alleys between the buildings lead to the interior of the burg, which is much larger than it looks from the outside. This part is filled by an air pocket, kept perpetually illuminated, fresh and even windy by Rissinis himself. Houses of white concrete and marble here are small and more orderly, and they house humans and other air-breathing natives of the place. Several grand towers extend upward frm each direction to meet each other in a central storm cloud that houses the true palace of the Power. Despite its size, the Trawling Citadel is a wandering realm, constantly moving at a sea snail’s pace through the Bottomless Blue.
Currents slowly guide the burg, but Rissinis also steers it from time to time to keep it out of harm’s way and in clear waters rich with fish and seafood. The Citadel is rarely seen in the Bay of Light, since this place is protected by ruvoka, sea elves and other creatures who disapprove of the potentially environmentally devastating fortress.
All visitors are welcome in the Citadel, unless they come with a clearly hostile intent. A single exception is made for adaro—while some of them worship Rissinis and want to visit his realm, proximity to the stormy heart of the Trawling Citadel throws them into their signature rage. It is presumed that adaro petitioners of Rissinis are transformed into other forms before being reincarnated in the realm.
