Coelacanth Lord

A coelacanth

Seyhrain Coelacanthus. Planar animal lord [he/him] ‡

Character: Stick to the old ways, for they are tried, tested and true. Stillness is a weapon, because motion draws attention, and that only brings danger.

Description: A great, obese and ancient fish-like cutter, the Coelacanth Lord is stuck in his ways and hasn’t changed a thing for centuries. If it ain’t broke, don’t evolve it, could he his motto. His people, the coelacanth fish, might have existed since fish were a sparkle in the creator’s eye, but they’re a dwindling number now, out-competed by more modern creatures on almost every Prime world now. But old Coelacanth is stubborn, and he’s not for changing things, preferring to stubbornly cling to the past. The Coelacanth Lord is a contradictory gentleman. When he’s with others of his kind he can be the most peaceful, sweetest, and happiest being, but if he meets with a stranger he goes into a fight and flight response. He barely trusts outsiders at all and he’ll act aggressively towards them. Some might call him paranoid, and some call him a berk, but it’s possibly because his kind was so heavily preyed on in the Prime

Realm: Pangaea / Swamp of Coals (contested with the Temnospondylus Lord). The lobe-finned coelacanth fish prefer deep waters, and lurk as far below the Swamp of Coals as they can get, believing themselves safe down there in the darkness. Their world is a drowned forest of root-pillars where time moves like silt and light has a fight on its hands to filter down.
