Sahkil Lurkers
Trigger warning — the sahkil’s entire schtick is to induce fears and phobias, so if you have concerns about content like that, I suggest you give this fiend family a miss altogether!
Home Planes: Ethereal / Xibalba; Nether; the lonely (or crowded) places in the planes
Alignment: Neutral Evil
The lurker sahkils specialise in haunting a particular type of location, lying in wait for an unlucky berk to pass through. They draw on the unsettling nature of the surroundings, and magnify the natural feelings of fear of their victims into a delicious feast of terror. You might expect this in an isolated environment, but don’t let down your guard when you’re in a bustling city, for there are sahkil that hunt in these places too. There are thirteen known types of lurker…
| Sahkil | Phobia | Hunting Grounds | CR |
|---|---|---|---|
| Baxbak ‡ | Being eaten alive | Remote communities | 16 |
| Borda ‡ | Getting lost and drowning | Lakes, marshes, swamps | 9 |
| Fear Liath ‡ | Falling, freezing, isolation | Mountains, moorlands | 12 |
| Jidolutz ‡ | Ghosts, hauntings | Houses, castles, especially with families | 9 |
| Lanak ‡ | Punishment, breaking taboos | Dark city alleyways, informant networks | 5 |
| Mayurch ‡ | Fire | Forest fires, deserts, natural disasters | 4 |
| Nakorik ‡ | Imprisonment, slavery | Prisons, labour camps, dungeons | 8 |
| Nenchuuj †| Fear of magic | Magic wastelands, wizard academies | 19 |
| Penqual †| Being lost in crowds | Marketplaces, festivals | 15 |
| Qolok †| Lacking and discontent | Taverns, brothels, festhalls | 16 |
| Rabatok ‡ | Heights | Mountains, cliffs, towers | 7 |
| Tumblak †| Claustrophobia, being crushed | Ruins, tombs | 18 |
| Zohanil †| Needles, addiction | Drug dens, chirguries, the Hive Ward | 10 |

Sahkil Lurkers
These are the sahkil whose hunting style is to lie in wait for victims to come to them… you can find a list of all kinds of sahkil here.
Other Sources: Jon Winter-Holt. Canonwatch: The sahkil are a fabulously horrid type of fiend from Pathfinder lore, who make a great addition to the Ethereal Plane and Planescape lore generally. The Creature Codex has done an awesome job of expanding the number of sahkil massively too, and I’ve included all their creations here. Organising the sahkil into three sub-types based on their hunting style was my idea, because the list was unwieldy and their names are (deliberately) hard to remember, and this splits them up into bite-sized chunks.
