Qolok Sakhil

The Gobbling Maw (CR 16) fear of not having enough
A towering mass of flesh topped by terrible jaws ringed with clawed arms, the qolok represents one of the most physically imposing and disgusting of the sahkil. These abominations are over 2,000 pounds of writhing, all-consuming flesh that are manifestations of mortals’ tendency for excessive consumption that is driven partly by by greed, but also by the primal fear of starvation. These hideous creatures have multiple mouths where ever-drooling tongues flop out, acting as both weapons and symbols of the qolok’s endless need to taste, consume and devour everything around it.
Despite their corpulent bulk, these monstrosities are surprisingly agile in combat. They can use their mass to slam their victims, rake at them with claws, bite with one of their dreadful mouths, or most dangerously of all, lash out with a probing tongue that will drag a victim to be swallowed whole and entombed in the qolok’s stomach. Unfortunately, consuming a victim does not satiate the qolok, for the more it devours the more hungry it becomes. While most sahkil are immune to the fears the engender, the same is not so for the qolok, which itself is terrified of not having enough, despite already possessing in abundance.
The qolok’s philosophical niche is manufactured scarcity—the belief that no amount of accumulation can ever truly satisfy the mortal need for security, which leads cutters into destructive cycles of overconsumption and hoarding. These sahkil recognize that the fear of not having enough is a fundamental anxiety that transcends any rational assessment of one’s actual resources. They particularly savour the moment when victims realize their hoarding and overconsumption behaviours are self-destructive, but nonetheless feel powerless to stop. The qolok views every act of consumption as an opportunity to demonstrate that mortals are creatures of insatiable appetite who will destroy themselves through their own greed—and the qolok is more than happy to help them on the way.
Qolok excel at using their mass suggestion abilities to encourage victims toward ruinous gluttony and self-destructive indulgence. Even more dangerous is their ability to instill compulsive behaviours upon sods unlucky enough to be swallowed. Should the qolok decide to vomit them out again rather than consume them—which occurs most often when the qolok is attempting to spread fear and compulsive consumption—their victims find themselves stricken by a curse of hoarding behaviour, irrational fears and insatiable hunger.
Members of the Society of Sensation are especially vulnerable to the depredations of the qolok, and these sahkil have targeted festhalls and brothels frequented by Sensates on more than one occasion. This causes a wave of consternation and panic among members of the faction until the offensive sahkil are tracked down and banished.

Other Sources: Jon Winter-Holt. Canonwatch: The sahkil are a fabulously horrid type of fiend from Pathfinder lore, who make a great addition to the Ethereal Plane and Planescape lore generally. The Creature Codex has done an awesome job of expanding the number of sahkil massively too, and I’ve included all their creations here. Organising the sahkil into three sub-types based on their hunting style was my idea, because the list was unwieldy and their names are (deliberately) hard to remember, and this splits them up into bite-sized chunks.
