Qlippoth

Home Plane: The Abyss
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Themes: Anti-creation horrors, qlippoth are the original feral and degenerate inhabitants of the deepest and most forsaken parts of the Abyss
Philosophy: Qlippoth despise all life, as is it were some kind of stain on the multiverse that they view as rightfully theirs. See, the chant goes these eldritch horrors crawled out of the Maelstrom that pre-dated the Great Ring, and infested the lower voragos that would become the Abyss. When they became aware of beings that were not-qlippoth, that’s when the Wars began. The tanar’ri almost wiped out the qlippoth completely, driving their writhing hordes back to the lowest, loneliest pits of the Abyss. The qlippoth have not taken this defeat lying down. Realising that the upstart tanar’ri depend upon the continuous flow of mortal souls for their own survival, the qlippoth now strive to eradicate all souls to starve the demons into extinction. Their grotesque forms embody their embrace of utterly mindless chaos and rapacious evil. Of course, qlippoth also hate the obyrith, perhaps even more than they do the tanar’ri. Unlike tanar’ri, obyrith do not require souls—and worse still, the obyrith seek to unmake the multiverse—the multiverse that rightfully belongs under qlippoth dominion!
Paragons: The qlippoth lords are uniquely powerful, and fortunately rare—these awful creatures wield a similar level of power to a tanar’ri lord. Perhaps some of them are even demipowers themselves. Monstrosities like Rovagug, Shiggareb, and Oaur-Ooung are all qlippoth lords of varying power. Even more terrible are the dark rumours that some qlippoth lords have stolen enough mortal energy to turn themselves into something even worse. Beings like Juiblex, Cyth-V-sug and Zevgavizeb are said to have been former qlippoth lords who have consumed so many souls over the millenia that they’ve evolved into something new and as yet uncatalogued. If you can get a Guvner to even talk about such things, they’ll typically ward themselves with holy water before drawing you close and whispering, ‘we just call them demon lords… for now’.
More chant on the qlippoth coming soon…

Canonwatch: †the qlippoth are a Pathfinder invention based on the Kabbalah, portrayed as the original feral inhabitants of the Abyss, and there’s plenty of room for them there. I’m planning on tying them more closely to the Great Old Ones in the future.
