New Greener Mimir
Well met, bashers!

Today I discovered a tool that audits websites for their carbon footprint and was a little mortified to see how poorly the mimir.net front page scored. It inspired me to do a bit of reformatting, tidy up some images and change some older ones to more efficient file formats, remove some extraneous graphical fluff, and reduce the resolution of the thumbnail images.
I’m pleased to say a few hours of tinkering reduced the overall page size by about 90%, and the results look pretty much the same. Considering the front page is loaded so much more often, this should make quite a difference!
Hopefully that should result in faster load times as well as saving some dryads. You might spot a new mimir skull or two in the rotation as well 😉
I’ll be using what I learned and dip back into some of the earlier pages I posted in 2023 to shrink them down up a bit too.
Hope you have a great weekend!
Watch the Spire!
Jon
