The panjeghorb [pan-juh-GORB] is the xrafstar stripped down to its essentials: hunger, venom, and aggression. In form it is a nightmarish fusion of scorpion and frog, two of Ahriman’s favourite vermin with which to despoil creation. Its body is squat, broad, and low to the ground, warty hide slick with slime stretched over corded muscle. From this obscene bulk rises a segmented scorpion tail long enough to strike creatures twenty feet away. Its forelimbs end in rending claws and its head opens into a lipless, amphibian maw broad enough to gulp down a full-grown human whole; larger even. What catches most cutters off guard is its agility however: despite its size, the panjeghorb bounds and skitters with urgency, springing sideways from attacks with an almost playful nimbleness, before ending that illusion by snapping forward with its monstrous jaws, claws, and sting in the space of a few heartbeats.
The venom of the panjeghorb is unique. It weaponises the victim’s own violence against them. Xrafstars usually embody negation in a fairly straightforward way—they seize, swallow, poison, and erase—but the panjeghorb briefly turns a creature into an accomplice in that erasure. The venom it injects floods the mind with furious, incoherent rage, making clear thought impossible even as it lends the victim a burst of savage vitality, but then as the poison progresses it drives its victims briefly barmy, lashing out wildly at whatever stands nearest. That makes the panjeghorb especially hated by fiends, who are accustomed to pain and corruption but resent being made to look ridiculous, reduced to thrashing beasts by vermin they consider beneath them. The panjeghorb’s tactics make a battlefield itself more stupid, more panicked, and more self-destructive. Even its stomach is spiritually fouler than most, for sods taken alive into its gut emerge—if they emerge at all—closer to their final doom, as though the creature’s innards themselves are a rehearsal for the blissful annihilation all xrafstars promise.

Sources: Jon Winter-Holt. The xrafstar is a creature of Persian mythology, and are described as a kind on enormous vermin the size of mountains. I’ve reinterpreted this as mixing and matching various kinds of vermin into horrible monstrosities. Its name is a portmanteau of the Persian words for frog and scorpion.
