Nakta

Guardian uthra
Challenge Rating: 12
DESCRIPTION: Naktas are the most significant of the uthras, if there can be such a thing. They are the warriors of the race, tasked with guarding holy sites and furthering the mysterious goals of Hayyi Rabbi. A guardian uthra is a truly terrifying sight. They appear as are gaunt, emaciated giants with flaming blades poking out of their backs like monstrous wings. Their faces look more like blank metallic masks with a pair of unblinking eyes, that glow with bright light.
COMBAT: Naktas are truly mighty, and their strikes can easily level castles. In battles with obyriths they use their mace-like sceptres. These sceptres are extensions of the uthras power and cannot be separated from them. In battle, a nakta can project blades of light and flame that easily cut through almost any kind of matter. Naktas rarely use these blades against other creatures however, preferring to subdue them. After a foe is brought down, the naktas use their powerful innate magic to banish or imprison them. They have an unfortunate tendency to send dangerous creatures to the Prime Material Plane. When the need for an exceptionally powerful attack arises, a nakta can open their “mask”, revealing a jaw with many layers of sharp teeth. These teeth aren’t the main weapon, however… that would be the powerful ray of flame that shoots out, immolating everything in its path and reducing it to gray ash.
HABITAT/SOCIETY: Curiously, naktas that stand guard around Matarta or near the dwelling place of the Mother of Waves tend be paired up as twins. Among these beings the most renowned pair is Shilmai and Nidbai, who are accompanied by their respective ananas Nhar and Kbar. They guard the sacred location where the Hitfun rises up into the sky of Bytopia, and finally becomes Piriawis.

Source: Margarita. Mythwatch: The naktas are homebrew, but are based on the celestial entities from the ancient Gnostic religion Mandaeism. Influences from Abrahamic religions and mysticism aren’t unheard of in D&D and Pathfinder (archons, qlippoths, peri, divs and devas, azatas—basically the entire spectrum of Near Eastern religions is already canonically present), but my version references living religions much more, so if you are Mandaean or know more about this religion than me and have any kind of opinion, please do share it.
