Egarus

DESCRIPTION: Egarus is strange and frankly rather dangerous fungus, originally from the Abyss, that was banished to Vacuum in a misguided attempt to save the Prime world it was threatening. Instead of killing it however, the egarus evolved. Since there is nothing to eat on Vacuum, that is what the fungus evolved to consume, and left undisturbed, it happily grows in the void, sustained by the lack of substance around it. At the same time, however, it came to detest anything with substance—in otherwords anything that is not nothing.

PREFERRED HABITAT: Egarus prefers to dwell in the most remote parts of Deep Vacuum, but occasionally voidstorms will nudge stray patches out of the deeps and int regions more polluted by matter,

COMBAT: When a patch of egarus detects material objects, energy or creatures, it teleports nearby, and starts to slowly degrade the matter. Anything within the aura of an egarus is susceptible to disintegration, and slowly but surely the egarus tries to decay matter into nothingness. Egarus is unthinking, and always attacks items in the same order—energy first, such as light sources and flames, then active spell effects. Non-living material objects are attacked next, disintegrated one per round. Finally, living beings are targeted. Egarus are immune to all kinds of physical attacks, cold, fire and most magical attacks. They are vulnerable to acid, electricity, and a handful of other effects. Wise planewalkers, and all settlements in Vacuum, are well aware of the threat of egarus and equip themselves accordingly.
