Marishi

The Festival Queen, the Revelmaker, Our Lady of Games and Glory (planar shiradi eladrin empyreal lord [she/her] / CG)
Portfolio: Celebration, contests, sports
Realm: Arborea / Arvandor / the Festival Fields
Marishi the Festival Queen, is the eladrin lord who’s determined to turn every contest into a carnival and every victory into a bawdy song. She’s the embodiment of that feeling of your heart racing at the starting line, or when you lose yourself in the jubilant roar of a crowd.
Marishi is the spirit of revelry, and the joy that bursts forth when friends and rivals gather to share in triumphs and laughter. She teaches that every victory—big or small—at least deserves a song, a dance, or a toast. From footraces to chess matches, dance-offs to puzzles, Marishi delights in all forms of competition. She believes that the act of striving for victory can bring out the best in cutters, and that every one of these opportunities presents a chance to learn, grow, and shine. For Marishi, the heart of any contest is honour and camaraderie. She insists that games be fair, safe, and fun for all players, and that winners be celebrated—not just for the winning, but for inspiring other cutters to dig deep and reach higher.
Marishi appears as a radiant athletic woman with sun-bronzed skin and mop of short sparkling hair that shifts through every colour of the banners strung across a tournament field. Her eyes gleam with mischief and encouragement, and she’s always clad in flowing, colourful garb adorned with medals, ribbons, and festival sashes. When she’s not racing or dancing, she’s often seen holding a laurel crown, a gleaming trophy or a horn of plenty overflowing with confetti and sweet treats.
Marishi is the ultimate cheerleader—boisterous, encouraging, and utterly infectious in her enthusiasm. She loves a challenge and is quick to celebrate others’ achievements, never letting a worthy effort go unrecognized. She’s fiercely protective of the fun, making sure competitions never turn cruel or dangerous. When she laughs, it’s like the clamour of a hundred joyous voices, and when she’s angry (usually at cheaters or bullies), her bark is as sharp as a referee’s whistle.
Her creed is simple: “Compete with joy, win with pride, and then celebrate together.” She teaches that striving for victory is indeed noble, but the true prize is the growth, friendship, and memories that are forged by the contest. She abhors those who cheat, sabotage, or turn games into grudges, for she believed that contests should be a chance for the whole community to come together and revel in each other’s successes. For Marishi, the greatest evil is joyless competition, or celebrations that deliberately leave others out in the cold. She’s said to be an ally—and rival—f the Greek power Nike, and when she’s not in Arborea, you might find her competing in K’un Lun in the spectacular stadium called Triumphs Heroic.
Among the eladrin, Marishi is the patron of festivals, a muse for athletes and artists, and usually found at the heart of every grand gathering. She’s the cutter who organises the games, leads the parades, hands out the prizes, and tried to make sure every voice is heard in the chorus of celebration. While some empyreal lords focus on lofty ideals or sombre duties, Marishi wants to remind everyone that life is for living, and that every triumph, no matter how small, deserves to be celebrated.
Her temples are always located at the heart of the action: City squares, tournament fields, and anywhere folk gather to test their skills and celebrate together. Her clergy, the Revelwardens, are famed for organising games, mediating disputes, and making sure every contest ends with a feast and a song.
The Festival Fields
Marishi’s realm is a never-ending festival ground in Arvandor. The arenas and gatherings of the Festival Fields burst with music, laughter, and the sound of friendly competition. The air is heavy with the scent of sweetmeats and fresh-cut grass. It seems like every path through the woods leads to a clearing with a new game, a new contest, or a new celebration. Here, the sun doesn’t set until the last race is run, and the moon shines down until the last toast is made and the last song is sung. Every soul is welcome to join the revels.
Chant goes that Marishi once turned a brewing war between two rival cities into a week-long tournament, where disputes were settled with wrestling, dance-offs and athletics instead of blades. “If you can’t beat ’em, challenge ’em to a footrace!” her followers like to say.
Marishi embodies the best part of the of celebration, she’s the champion of fair play, and the friend who never lets a victory go uncheered. She’s the proof that joy, camaraderie, and a little friendly competition can change the world—one festival at a time. So next time you win, don’t just take a bow—throw a party—and maybe Marishi will be there in the crowd, cheering you on.
