Zuggtmoy
Demon Queen of Fungi, Queen of Rot, Lady of Decay
Planar tanar’ri lord of fungus, rot, decay [she/her] / CE
Lair: Abyss / Shedaklah (contested)
Destruction, corruption, the defilement of beautiful things… all of these are hallmarks of demons as a whole, but few exemplify these traits to the extent that Zuggtmoy does. She is a patron of rot without renewal, decay without new growth, a twisted version of the natural order that demands all things surrender to mold and spore but offers nothing in return.
Zuggtmoy’s aspirations to princedom are foiled by Juiblex, whose Slime Pits lie across the River Styx from the vast forests of fungus that demarcate the Queen of Rot’s domain on Shedaklah, the 222nd layer. Corrupted myconids toil to build towering fungal monoliths to the glory of Zuggtmoy, who is largely content to let her parasitized legions do as they will while she turns her attentions to warring with Juiblex or finding ways to usurp power over the Material Plane’s Underdark, often clashing with servants of Lolth. Zuggtmoy is served by evil druids and has occasionally dabbled in manipulating elemental cults for her own ends.
