The Perfect Symmetry of Nemausan Forms
Themes of the Layer: The home of the perfect forms of all objects and concepts
Nemausus was not just organised and preened, like Abellio, it was literally perfect. Every oak tree was identical, representing the perfection of the form of oak trees. Likewise every willow. Every salmon was plump and luminescent, every peacock perfectly dazzling, every flower the most beautiful flower. The emanations of the forms of these perfect plants, animals, even objects formed the templates that all other things in creation were modelled from. When they made humans, they didn’t throw away the mould—as the saying goes—they stored them in Nemausus. In many ways, Nemausus was less of a plane of nature, and more of a museum, where perfect things of all sorts were stored away.

The following mimir recording was “liberated” from Harmonium custody. It covers the secretly recorded account of one Sergeant D’Angelo, a member of the Harmonium (currently missing) in an encounter with members of the Harmonium Neighborhood Watch situated in what was once the small village of Magnifica, located in Nemausus:

WEAVERTON
Oh come, come Sergeant D’Angelo.
D’ANGELO
You should be ashamed of yourselves. This is supposed to be the community that cares!
REV. FLETCHER
Oh, but we do care D’Angelo.
MRS. COOPER
It’s all about the greater good.
ALL
The greater good.
D’ANGELO
What do you mean the greater good?
ALL
The greater good.
TANNER
Magnifica, D’Angelo. The village.
DR. EGGSBY
A happy village is a healthy village.
COFFER
Perfection breeds contentment and contentment is paramount.
TANNER
You see, as much as I enjoyed your wild theories Sergeant, the truth is far less complex. Bowyer’s fate was simply the result of his being an appalling actor.
(There’s a murmur of “appalling”.)
D’ANGELO
You murdered him for that?
TANNER
He murdered Bill Shakespeare.
D’ANGELO
What!? Oh I see.
COFFER
The Magnifica Players is an important feather in our cap.
DR. EGGSBY
We couldn’t let Bowyer jeopardize that. Not when we had two semi-professionals waiting in the wings.
TANNER
Let us not forget Greg was an extra in Reed Hounds–
D’ANGELO
Yes, I know!
MRS. COOPER
Martin was less concerned with the reputation of the village than his sordid affair with Eve Drooper.
D’ANGELO
And so Eve deserved to die too?
DR. EGGSBY
She did have an annoying laugh.
(There’s a murmur of ’annoying’.)
D’ANGELO
And George Mercanto?
TANNER
He had an awful house.
(There’s a murmur of “awful”.)
MRS. COOPER
We begged him in vain to make his residence more in keeping with the village’s rustic aesthetic.
D’ANGELO
What was Messer’s crime?
TANNER
Tim Messer’s tenure as editor of the Magnifica Citizen has been unbearable.
COFFER
Our once great paper had become riddled with tabloid journalism and dreadful punnery. Not to mention persistent errors.
ROY SHIFTER
He listed her age as 55.
MARY SHIFTER
When I’m actually 53.
REV FLETCHER
The church roof was in need of repair and the insurers wouldn’t pay unless it was certified hazardous. Let’s just say we killed two birds with one stone.
D’ANGELO
What about Leslie Tiddler? One of your own? Her her horticultural expertise helped put Magnifica on the map.
MRS. COOPER
She was ever so good.
TANNER
Cousin Leslie was a terrible shame. But it seems she was set on moving away.
WEAVERTON
We had to stop her before she shared her green fingers with anyone else.
MRS. COOPER
Not least the heathens at Eridani Abbey.
(Sound of the HNW simultaneously spit on the ground.)
DR. EGGSBY
If we can’t have her no-one can.
D’ANGELO
How can this be for the greater good?!
ALL
The greater good.
D’ANGELO
Shut it!
(Sound of crashing and the mimir tumbling off to the side.)

Unfortunately the remainder of the encounter was not captured by the mimir as it appears to have been discovered and discarded. Sergeant D’Angelo’s fate remains unknown.
I love this! Thank you 😀
