Xig-Phant is perhaps the most feared of the dark energons, or xig-yao. It appears as void of nothingness, etched with glimmering golden lines which might be cracks, or perhaps a diagram, or perhaps an equation. Its tendrils could around its body like tentacles of roiling flame, yet it gives out no heat, or sound. It looks to all purposes as it is being continually ripped apart.
Xig-Phant is a paragon among paradoxes. It grows visibly larger and stronger the more it expends energy. With every ability it uses, it increases in size and power—and once it is engorged with expansion energy it is able to unleash it in a catastrophic burst.
It seems impossible to contain Xig-Phant, for any attempt to confine it would lead to the rupture of the cell, the building, then entire prison. Worrying calculations from the Fraternity of Order warn that if Xig-Phant is allowed to persist for long enough in one place it could begin tearing matter itself apart at the fundamental level—first disintegrating solid substances to dust, then the dust into voidstuff, and then even rending the planar fabric itself.
Fortunately for all of mortal life, the bythos aeons exist. When inhabited planes are under threat from Xig-Phant they may appear, and are usually able to repel the energon before it can cause destruction at a multiverse-threatening level, banishing the being to the depths of Wildspace where it can do minimal harm. They are either unwilling, or unable, to destroy the being outright however.
