The Arch of Triumph
Location: Mount Celestia / Lunia / Threshold
An arch of white marble and silver perched high on a cliff terrace with spectacular views across the Silver Sea, the Arch of Triumph is home to the sword archon Alziel.
The structure is ancient and weathered, although still beautiful when the starlight reflects off the Silver Sea and dances across the metal seams in the stonework. If a cutter looks closely at the figures carved into the arch, they might be able to make out winged creatures being fought by angelic forms, amidst a backdrop of flames. This arch commemorates one of the great battles of ancient Celestian history, marking the location where thousands of years ago the baatezu Xaphan was cast off the cliffs after his attempt to set Mount Celestia aflame failed. When the breeze is just right, it’s said you can still catch the stench of acrid smoke just at the back of your throat.
