Glycon

The Shining, the Son of Medicine (planar reptial guardinal companion [he/him] / NG)

Portfolio: Healing, fertility, medicine

Realm: Elysium / Belierin / Second Hearing Second Sight

Glycon the Shining is a serpentine empyreal lord of good health and fertility, whose origins are truly unusual. The chant goes that Glycon was originally a hoax created by a charlatan on an obscure Prime world—a large snake with the head of a puppet attached—that the knight of the post convinced gullible berks was a new incarnation of the Greek power Asclepius.

What the likes of Zeus and Apollo thought of this isn’t known—but due to the success of the peel in pulling in large numbers, the concept of Glycon was brought into true existence through the faith and devotion of his cult of followers. He’s transcended his false beginnings—and frankly all the odds—to become a genuine celestial force for good. With his sleek, twenty-foot-long serpent body, golden-green mane of snake-like hair, and wise face, Glycon exudes an aura of calm authority and nurturing care. Though he is young by empyreal standards, and relatively obscure compared to other celestial lords, Glycon is committed to alleviating mortal suffering, curing plagues and guiding his followers toward long, prosperous lives.

Glycon’s philosophy emphasises healing in all forms—physical, emotional, and spiritual—and he preaches the importance of self-care and compassion. Despite his benevolent nature, he’s retained a trickster’s edge from his origins, and will occasionally use deception if it serves the greater good. His venomous bite and subjugating gaze make him a fearsome foe in battle when roused, though he prefers to act as a field medic, healing allies from the sidelines. From his well-hidden realm in the fens of Belierin, Second Hearing Second Sight, Glycon continues to expand his influence across the planes, proving that even the most inauspicious beginnings can lead to profound acts of goodness.
